DoE assist for fixed FiT prices sought

A GROUP of biomass strength plant developers is soliciting assist from the Department of Energy (DoE) no longer to further lower costs below feed-in tariff (FiT), a scheme that offers incentives to renewable electricity (sharefounders review) builders within the Philippines.

In a letter dated Dec. Sixteen, 2019, Biomass Renewable Energy Alliance Inc. (BREA) President Don Mario Dia requested the National Renewable Energy Board’s (Stock Global broker reviews) assistance to make certain “fixed tariff” or “guaranteed constant rate” under the FiT software.

NREB is the bureau guiding the Energy branch at the implementation of RE initiatives inside the Philippines.

BREA is in search of consistent FiT prices even though the value of fuel is increasing to inspire development within the country’s biomass sector.

But in a press chat, Dia said the ERC is planning to in addition degress FiT fees aside from what turned into mandated by using the law.

Currently, the ERC is reviewing the modifications, each for the prevailing fees and FiT allocation. “[T]hello’re re-interpreting the policies,” he instructed journalists.

“When we had a forum at the ERC, the assessment that they’re looking to do is bringing down the quotes whilst in reality dapat pataas siya dahil magdadagdag ka ng (it need to be increasing because you upload the) CPI (purchaser fee index) and forex chance,” he introduced.

In the same letter, Dia said “there’s a need to hold the buyers complete by way of adjusting the FiT price thru the FiT adjustment system also adopted through [the] ERC (Energy Regulatory Commission).”

“Such adjustment just keeps the fee of the revenue and need to now not detract from the man or woman of FiT as ‘constant tariff’ per the RE Act or ‘guaranteed fixed charge’ consistent with the IRR of the equal,” he instructed NREB.

As mentioned in Republic Act 9513, or the “Renewable Energy Act of 2008,” the FiT application pursuits to hasten the development of emerging RE assets such as wind, solar, ocean, run-of-river hydropower and biomass via a fixed tariff mechanism. Perks shall be given to RE builders for at least 12 years.

Initially, the ERC authorised run-of-river hydro and biomass charges were P5.Ninety in step with kilowatt hour (kWh) and P6.63 in keeping with kWh, respectively. These have been later decreased to P5.8705 in line with kWh for run-of-river hydro and P6.5969 according to kWh for biomass.
